In this episode Joanne chats to Health Psychologist Dr Neesha Patel. Senior Health Psychologist at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust, Neesha qualified as a Health Psychologist in 2014 and has worked in Obesity Management for over 5 years and in Diabetes for over 10 years. She has specific expertise in the Psychological Aspects of Obesity and Diabetes Management and is passionate about helping people to change their behaviour to lose weight and adopt a healthy lifestyle using psychological techniques.
 
Neesha completed her PhD titled: ‘The Role of Illness Beliefs and Social Networks in the management of diabetes in the South Asian Population’ at The University of Manchester (UoM) in 2012. Before her career break in 2015, her postdoctoral work was in collaboration with The UoM and The Manchester Diabetes Centre on ‘Restoring Sleep and in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes’.

Neesha’s current research interests include: Diabesity in the general population and in the UK South Asian population, Emotional Eating related to Obesity Management, and the role of beliefs and cultural practices for Diabesity in the UK South Asian Population.
